This book is a translation from the streets of India to the form of a single object that then became an editioned volume. The editioned book was printed in a four-color electrostatic transfer on laser paper. The Coptic bound edition numbers twelve. The images contained in this work were collected on the Indian sub-continent, mainly in Tamil Nadu, while phillumenist/botanist Allerslev lived and traveled there in 1990-91 and 1994-95. Over eighty of these match boxes were collected; thirty are printed in Fancy Cock. The match boxes themselves had acquired the patina of use, and the printing was saturated. The powerful iconography represented exists as a paradox of meaning--one the world of India, the other that of queer New York City.
