Wilde's cut up currency collage and Teplin's fantastic ink drawings and water colors detail a strange and disturbing world. Advertisments and ephemera of bygone days mix with ink drawings of matches, olives, wood grain, moon craters, and open wounds. The book features cut away page surfaces that interfere with the sequencing of the book; thusly both obscuring and revealing the narrative structure. Hybrids of animal, vegetable, and mineral cavort and display in this diminunitive codex to no apparent narrative other than some enigmatic dreamstates and nightmares. Coptic bound Fabriano paper in purple Algerian goat skin wrapped boards, the endsheets were salvaged from library discards from Cooper Union.
This book can be read at the Boston Athenaeum, MA.
