This handsome book is half bound in beutiful calf leather from some two hundred dollar Italian shoes found in the trash in soho, some cork paper corners, and red chroma Lith faux marbled papers found by David Lundahl at an auction of undisclosed location. The inset frontice piece is from a Thai cigarette pack. The key which hangs from the ubiquitous binding thread is to A.Y.P.'s Front door at our old space, which was too small to contain our burgeoning success. The end sheets are constellation maps from a discarded encyclopedia. The text block papers are Barcham green, Sekishu, and Fabriano Roma in terra cotta. The collage illustrations come from the nineteen thirties through the present, and run the gamut from totally contrived relationships to selective viewing through different filters. The title relates to the philosophical argument of universal causality in reference to the free will of the individual. The seemingly random associations between these printed objects are in fact signifiers for an imbedded text about the causal relationships inherent to any endeavor.
